Championing Hull’s black history
I joined Welcome House project in September 2021 as a volunteer and later became volunteer coordinator and Team Leader, supporting asylum seekers located centrally. My responsibilities include recruiting and training volunteers, as well as managing DBS checks and references. I advocate for migrants, assist with form filling and provide guidance in accessing health and professional support.
I represent the Welcome House project by raising awareness of it’s services and initiatives. I connect with schools to engage pupils through talks and presentations, sharing key facts and figures about our work.
Additionally, I support individuals with employability, helping them transition into the workforce. I find inspiration in working alongside dedicated individuals and I enjoy my role.
“Welcome House work hand in hand, striving having one goal which is to help
